Songwriter & Producer

Hello
My name is James. I grew up and live in Los Angeles and I love making music. I primarily focus on pop music but I love experimenting and learning with all sorts of genres.

My Story
I have had a strong passion and love for music as long as I can remember. When I was six years old, I auditioned to begin piano lessons from a classically trained teacher who was originally from Russia but had relocated to the U.S. as a concert pianist. I trained with her for many years throughout my childhood. She gave me an incredible foundation in ear training, site reading, music theory and performance. Without her support, teaching and discipline, I would not be where I am today with respect to my musical journey. I actually wrote my first original song when I was 10 years old.
I played in several bands throughout elementary school in which I performed on drums, guitar and keyboard. In middle school, I was a member of the orchestra and was also asked to join Chamber in 8th grade, performing both violin and viola. I also performed with the Santa Monica Youth Orchestra for 2 years.
My interest in production began in 4th grade when I re-created an instrumental version of “Let it Go,” from the moving Frozen in LogicPro. I continued re-creating productions from some of my favorite songs, oftentimes changing the production style or creating unique mash-ups. When COVID hit in 2020, I used that time to learn ProTools and realized that my biggest passion lies with production and songwriting. I began writing originals, and after graduating from high school, I was accepted into the B.A. Music program at Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, majoring in Songwriting & Production. The program has provided an in-depth education that not only encompasses my major studies but also various aspects of both performance and the music business as a whole. I plan to finish at the end of this year (2026).

Me, age 10 in a video taken by my mom. This is my first ever written original song titled "There's a Ghost in the Hallway".
Flash forward to Mother's Day in 2025, my father and I are figuring out what a good gift would be. He came up with the idea that I should take "There's a Ghost in the Hallway" and turn it into a full production with my modern skills, so a few days before Mother's Day, I whipped up a quick little pop version of the song. This was the final result:
I inherently believe that music is the language of the Universe. Some of my biggest inspirations include Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Troye Sivan, Avril Lavigne, and Kacey Musgraves. I would also say that in terms of production, I really look up to a lot of Max Martin's work as I favor very much of the same production techniques he uses. Music is a language I have spoken pretty much my entire life, and I could not be more excited about the journeys it takes me on in the future.
